Doris Lessing

I collected my bus pass and pension a couple of years ago and apart from this rite of passage I had not given much thought to the ageing process.
After all writers and artists never retire.

Some years ago at Hay Book Festival one middle aged woman asked
Doris Lessing, then 85, if she had thought of retiring.
" Why should I?" she said.

And that's it , those of us who are involved in some form of creative work, will carry on until our last breathe.
